Working with animals in emergency situations can be stressful for both the animals and yourself. Always be cautious and put safety first, you can’t help anyone if you’re injured. Below is a checklist of basic supplies that are helpful to keep on-hand:
- Protective clothing: pants, long sleeved shirt, hat, close-toed shoes, gloves, rain poncho, and glasses if needed
- N95 mask or bandanna
- Sunscreen
- Water
- Cell phone & charger
- Non-perishable snacks
- First-aid kit
- Medication
- Lip balm
- Driver’s license
- Proof of car & medical insurance
- Pen & paper
- Flashlight
- Knife
- Animal handling tools you have available: leashes, halters, lead ropes, etc.
- Animal transport items: kennels, carriers, towels, extra water bowls, etc.
